I met Simon Yearsley at the BMC International Meet earlier on this year, sat behind a mini bus steering wheel, as he waited in a Cairngorm car park (having had climbed that day himself) for other climbers still to come off the hill. After getting chatting he mentioned he was giving a presentation that evening at Glenmore Lodge. I went along and heard him give a talk about new-routing in "out of the way places" in winter in Scotland. I really enjoyed the talk and photos, and it left me fired up to say the least. A few days later Simon had again volunteered to drive a mini bus, this time to Ben Nevis, so when the rest of the passengers (my self included) caught up with some well needed sleep, Simon drove for two hours before it even got light. When Me and Domagoj came down from the Ben that evening, Simon was again sat behind the steering wheel of the mini bus, waiting for the last people to come off the hill. What a top guy!
He is starting a UK lecture tour very soon and is coming to Bristol on the 25th Feb. The proceeds from the event will go to support the Youth Adventure Trust charity. If you are someone that appreciates adventure, exploration and adrenaline, then I cannot recommend this event enough. It's the real deal!!
