I met up with two mates (Kim and Sarah-Jane) from Bristol in the Gower on Monday for a recce of some crags. Kim is a climbing instructor and international mountain leader and is hiring me to do a days work in a few weeks, climbing with a group of keen school students. S-J is going through the last stages of her outdoor rock climbing instructor qualification, so decided to come along as well. The weather wasn't great but ok for what we needed to do. we visited four new crags and came up with some plans. We all then booted it back to my house in Pembrokeshire to dry out and have a lovely dinner together with my wife Corinne.
The following day in Pembrokeshire was beautiful and I had a been granted "leave" for the morning to tag along with the girls and get a couple of routes done in the Lydstep area near Mother Carey's Kitchen. We climbed an adventurous route called Toit Groove (another Colin Mortlock addition to the area) and then S-J continued the adventurous theme by climbing Absent Mindedness on Pinnacle Buttress. I then left the girls to climb some more and had to race back home to get in for my early afternoon curfew.
