I was working for Rock and Sun Holidays this weekend and had the company of Maciej and Gavin for two days of skills training. They are both experienced indoor climbers and have also climbed outside and wanted to progress their skills to become more independent at trad' climbing. The sun was out and we headed to Saddle Head where we quickly got to grips with multiple anchor construction and abseiled in. After a couple of routes we roped scrambled down the "Saddle" in two pitches and climbed back out another route on top quality limestone. We then headed over to Stennis Head East and the guys built an anchor each before heading off on a two pitch traverse that brought us to the bottom of a Pembroke classic Bludgeon. We climbed this to top us out and conclude day one.
On our second day we drove to Becks Point and continuing the theme, the guys built an anchor and abseil each which they used to descend to the bottom of the crag. We climbed three routes up to HVS 5b standard and then moved off to Fisherman's Point and the guys built another two abseils and both lead a route each there.
A busy weekend with lots of skills learnt and practiced, well done lads!
