Sea Cliff Climbing Adventures in Lydstep Area

Back out today with Ed and the weather was alot better than Monday. we met up at mid day, drove to Manorbier and walked the 2 minutes to Frontier Zawn. Abseil in place we slid down our rope and looked around. The tide was just a little too far in for my first choice route, so I opted for a classic Pat Littlejohn route called Grand Junction. That done, Ed had Pan (another classic Littlejohn route) in mind, but the bottom looked wet and it had various seep lines higher up. Best to keep for dry conditions at E4 6a... He looked at the guide again and chose Firestreak on Forbidden Head. Another abseil later, we were stood at the bottom gazing up at a very steep and pumpy looking groove. Ed dispatched this with relative ease (well done Ed). and I followed. On the next abseil we checked out a potential hard looking new line (one for another day...)

After a bit of faffing deciding what route to do, we chose to traverse along a wide break line to belay, then climb The Cruise. The waves were crashing into the wall below this and it made for an exciting and atmospheric expedition. We topped out just as it was getting really dark. Great day.
